No. 2 - Peau d’Or Body Wash

This is a review of Les Deux’s Fragrances Body Wash - Nourishing & Hydrating Natural Body Cleanser with Niacinamide, Probiotics, Rosehip & Marula Oils (No 2 - Amber, Saffron, Sandalwood). Sulfate Free Body Wash ($28)SCENT- I chose No 2 which is Amber, Saffron, and Sandalwood. - I like perfumes that have amber, but I have no idea what amber actually smells like. - Likewise, I like foods with saffron, but I honestly can’t think of what it smells like to say whether or not this smells like saffron. - I like woody, rather than dill pickle sandalwood (aka the famous Santal), and this is definitely the woody version. - This also has a creaminess to it.- When this first arrived, I immediately untwisted the lid and sniffed it. It smells amazing.- The scent seems to be unisex, but some people may find it more masculine.- After applying it to my skin, it seemed to change scent slightly, and became more metallic; I can’t explain that, unless, perhaps, the scent interacts with your body chemistry?- As a hand wash, the scent lingers close to the skin, but is not overpowering (not strong projection).- As a body wash, I continued to smell it in the shower, but not once I got out.- I attribute the noted difference of the projection and longevity on my hands vs on my body to differing rations of product:skin. I used one pump for my hands—which is a lot of product for a small surface area, while I used only five pumps for my bod—which is a small amount of product for a larger surface area. If I wanted to increase the projection and longevity of the scent more, and possibly even the sillage, I would need to use a lot more product on my body.- I like the fragrance so much that I am considering purchasing their perfume.NO LATHERThe instructions say: Dispense directly onto your hands or a damp sponge and massage over wet skin for a rich foam.- This did not develop into a rich foam for me or for my partner. He was actually confused by it not creating a lather.- Applied with my hands (no sponge, washcloth, or loofa)I needed at least 5 pumps to just barely cover my body. My partner needed 3 pumps just to cover his chest.- Even though this doesn’t lather or become very sudsy, I still felt like it cleaned my skin. To test this further, I coated my hands in oily lotion and then used one pump to wash it off and it got everything off easily.NOT DRYING BUT NOT HYDRATINGThe product says it is “free of harmful chemicals” and “specifically formulated without sulfates, parabens, or phthalates” to provide “a gentle and safe cleanse”.- I agree that it cleanses gentlyIt also says that it has probiotics, rosehip seed oil and marula oil to nourish, hydrate, and strengthen the skin barrier.- I couldn’t find any probiotics listed in the ingredientsIt says it’s “Packed with Vitamin C, E, and B5 to promote healthy, hydrated, and glowing skin.”- It does have vitamin C in the form of sodium ascorbyl phosphate, Vitamin E in the form of tocopherol, and Vitamin B5 in the form of panthenol, BUT given where they appear in the ingredients list (1 in the middle, 2 towards the end), I disagree with the terminology “packed with”.It says it’s a “moisturizing body wash for all skin types”.- While it didn’t make my skin feel dry or stripped, it also didn’t make my skin feel hydrated or moisturized. It seemed to have a neutral effect.It says it is a shower gel for both men and women- I agree with this. The scent is unisexual in my opinion and my partner and I both like it.OTHER:I love that this came with a pump blocker. That makes me feel safer putting this in luggage when traveling.INGREDIENTS:Water, cocamide mipa, cocamidopropyl betaine, cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, lauryl glucoside, decyl glucoside, disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate, fragrance, niacinamide, sodium ascorbyl phosphate, rosa canina (rosehip) seed oil, sclerocarya birrea (marula) seed oil, glycine soja (soybean) oil, tocopherol, panthenol, butylene glycol, sodium benzonate, potassium sorbateI ordered this product on Feb 5, 2025 and received it on Feb 19, 2025. The lot number and expiration date (04/2026) are stamped on the bottom of the bottle.VALUE:This is where I deducted a star. Although I love this scent and it cleans well, I have to use more of this product than my prior body wash to clean my body. Because of that fact alone, I feel like the $28 cost is a bit high. If I could use less, I would feel the $28 cost is worth it because of how great this smells and how well it cleans.

It has a masculine cologne fragrance. The scent is strong at first and then fades. It does a thorough job cleansing but you need to ensure you use ample water to remove thoroughly. Great smell, could cleaning, mediocre lather.

I was hesitant to order this Les Deux Body Wash because I don't normally enjoy the scents of most body washes (most smell very artificial and chemically to me). Wow, I am SO glad I took a chance and ordered this! It smells heavenly! It doesn't smell fake or chemically at all - it smells more like a nice perfume/cologne. The body wash is a clear liquid (it's not greasy in the slightest even though it contains rosehip and marula oils) and makes a good amount of foam whether you are using your hands or a body scrubber. My skin felt clean, but soft and hydrated after using this and it didn't dry out my skin at all.I ordered the No 2 which is a mix of Amber, Saffron and Sandalwood and, to me, the predominate scent is sandalwood, although I can smell hints of the other scents. I'm a woman, but my guy also liked the scent when he tried it, so I would definitely say this is a unisex scent. The scent does linger on your skin for quite a while after getting out of the shower.The bottle is made from plastic, as is the pump, which I prefer over glass for things I am using in the shower because I don't want to accidently end up with shattered glass all over my shower floor. Another thing I like about this bottle is that the label feels sort of 'grippy' and non-slip, making it easy to hold onto in the shower with soapy hands.If you like the scent of sandalwood and are looking for a gentle, nourishing body wash, I would definitely recommend this!

Nice packaging...good lather, but the body wash and lotion is disappointing when it comes to matching the fragrance, i bought it to layer with the matching perfume. However, here is only a teeny tiny "barely" there hint of the #2 perfume. So little so, that if you didnt know thats what it waa, you could not pick up on it. As much as i adore the #2 perfume, i will mot repurchase unless they do something about the scent throw....sadly, a disappointment.

this fragrance- body wash is silky and soft, The fragrance is heavenly My favorite of all! its not overly strong but soft **** and clean. love tjis product and I love the #2 perfume with it!

This smells so so good! It's a nice change of pace from my usual florals as this is more unisex type of scent that leans masculine. It works as both a body wash and hand wash and a little bit on the thin side in terms of texture. It doesn't lather up as nicely as my usual body wash so I am using it as a hand soap in the powder room instead. It does a good job cleaning my hands without drying it out though I still need to put on lotion afterwards.

I liked the smell of this body wash, it is kind of androgynous, and very fresh. It lathers up fairly well, and did not dry out my skin. I prefer a very luxurious foaming wash for the shower, and while this works fine, I switched to using it as a hand wash, and that is working better for me.

As a man, I really appreciate the scent of this body wash. It feels great on your body. I like to put some on a loofa and scrub it in. I feel really clean afterwards and the scent is amazing. A little seems to go a long way. It goes on easy and rinses off easy as well. I'll say it one more time, I'm a big fan of the scent. I also really like the pump dispenser. The bottle and pump are quite attractive.

Les Deux isn't simply a body wash but a full sensory experience. The bottle is of a modern and clean appearance with a golden pump accent. The scent is heavenly and transports me to another world of old money, books, leather, and luxury with its delicious and sultry notes of amber, sandalwood, and saffron-- an aromatic intertwining of masculine and feminine notes. The scent drew me in and made me want it in every form, from bodywash to hair products, lotions and candles. The body wash cleansed my skin, while leaving it soft and moisturized. I love how well it lathers and how velvety smooth it leaves my skin. Hands down, the best smelling body wash I have ever tried.

This is just ok for body wash. The scent is very strong and masculine, and the performance is fine. It bubbles up and leaves my skin clean. The presentation does not seem particularly fancy, so the priciness of the product does not particularly show when I put this in my bathroom. It feels more like a hand soap to me, and does not look out of place next to the bathroom sink. While it certainly works as intended, I would not buy it again.

This has a lovely soft floral/perfume like scent. It’s light and not overbearing at all. This can be used as a hand soap but since the scent is more perfume like it makes a great body soap. It’s moisturizing, lathers up nicely, doesn’t leave any soapy residue behind and rinses off easily.

This body wash was amazing! Smells so god and left a long-lasting smell. I got many compliments and many people were expecting a very expensive perfume, but nope! Just my body wash!

This body wash smells very nice, but it is a more masculine smell, in my opinion. It is probably unisex, but for me personally, I like something more feminine. I gave it to my husband to use and he really likes it. It makes him smell fantastic. It is currently $28.. a little more than I normally spend on this sort of thing, but it has a lot of high quality ingredients in it.

I really like this hand and body wash! With just one little pump, it goes a long way, creating a rich lather that feels amazing on the skin. It has a nice scent that I really love the fruity scent and not overpowering. After using it, my hands and body feel super clean and refreshed. Plus, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry, which is a big plus. I highly recommend it!✨💕

This is being marketed as a Body Wash while the container itself states Hand & Body Wash. That definitely makes a difference as these dual types tend to be more thin, and runny as it's a hand wash also. I prefer my body washes to be thick & creamy, luxurious even. Les Deux's {Hand and} Body Wash is trying for a premium product as depicted by its container & price point, so it should be an almost decadent wash. It is not. Again, it's thin, with minimal lather. It is also not moisturizing, or hydrating. The scent's fine, but it does not last beyond the shower. Since there must be others that like this in order for it to be in production, basic 3 stars.

It doesn’t break me out and it makes my skin smooth and it smells really good

I ordered this body wash because of the amazing ingredients. Niacinamide is something I always look for in my. face creams as it has worked well for me. The various oils sold me. The probiotics in a skin product is new to me, but can't hurt.Even though it has oils, this wash cleans well. It washes off easily and left my skin soft.The smell if amazing! The sandalwood scent is most prevalent, making it nice for both men and women. It's subtle after washing it off.

This hand and body wash came in a nice and upscale looking bottle. The body wash has a delicate, pleasant, and very neutral scent which stays on the skin for a while. It lathers rather well. I have sensitive skin so I have to be very careful with this type of wash. I have not notice any redness or itching. I’d like the fact that it does not have harsh ingredients and very delicate scent.

The product design and the scent

The thing I like most about this product is that it’s made of organic elements that don’t harm the environment or one’s body. That’s a big plus for me. Also, the bottle is elegant looking, fancy to the point where it could make for a nice gift. What I don’t love is its lather quality, which is thin and unsatisfying- I like a robust lather from body washes. This part doesn’t bother me, but people should know that it doesn’t leave much of an aroma on your body, so if you like a wash that leaves you smelling strongly clean it’s not for you, while those who prefer a subtle after-wash smell will be pleased with that facet of the item. Overall, it’s not for me, mainly because the gel and the lather it generates is too insubstantial for my preferences. But others might like it.
